I don't know if this has been covered before. Someone has mentioned that the XR6T is going to cost around $1000 to insure through fleet insurance.

Will insurance on the upcoming XR8 be similar, or will it be wildly different? How did the AU XR8 vs XR6 insurance rates compare?

I've inquired with RAC W.A. about the BA XR6T and the XR8 I was told $1018 for both, although I suspect the XR8 price regards to the AU3 XR8.

AAMI - $817.00 (dont have monthly payments)

Ford Insure - $867.17 (same as above.....)

RACV - $875.68 - $79.63 a month (+ join the club $50 i think) <- ranking no.1 so far with me.

Suncorp Metway - $901.85

CGU - $1204.00

and a long shot my current insurer:
Shannon's - $1400.00

Yes another Holden convert here

I have had dealing with both., Elders insure my current car but want all you insurance., ie house, car boat etc., they are around %30 cheaper than others and are A! in service and support

Ansvar is some company that only insures Non Smokers and Drinkers and are fairly cheap

So all you XR8 owners out there, is your current insurance about the same as quoted here?

I had heard that the BA XR8 could be up to twice as much to insure as the XR6T, even though I find that hard to believe. \

I might be way out here, but I would imagine that the XR6T would be dearer to insure than the XR8. You might find that most places won't insure you unless you have things like Quicktrax etc. I know the WRX was hard to insure, the same might apply to the XR6T.

there's no real point comparing quotes on this basis, postcode can alter the premium by up to 300% or more.

a friend was quoted $1400 by ford insure today (on his XR6T)

- he said no thanks (already had a comparable AAMI quote)..

to his surprise the ford guy immediately dropped the insurance quote $200, thank you very much..
