Model T Travel Tales: Snow For The Australians

Our 20 percent chance of snow came through on the road from Delta to Price, Utah, and to the great joy of our Australian tour members. Some of them had never seen snow before! As if snowballs weren't good enough, they took their Model T deep into the "white stuff" at an altitude of 10,400 feet, and they nearly had trouble getting it out.

Just an update on the condition of our cars, the Australian vehicle that was shipped to Fort Collins, Colorado, for repair is now fully functional and headed back down the road to rejoin our group over the weekend. A separate car has experienced problems with its front main bearing, but with the generous help of two mechanics at Community Motors in Price, the driver of this Model T worked until 11 p.m. tonight to rebuild some of the engine and will be back in top order by departure tomorrow morning.

We were overwhelmed by the reception provided us by Community Motors. Its owner, Gus Kalatzes, produced a scrumptious catered meal for us, brought in a 10-piece country band and had the town's main street blocked off for our gathering. Hundreds of townspeople poured out for the event. It was a truly wonderful evening – despite a bit of hotel reservation confusion!

We would like to report that our friend and fellow tour member, Glyndon Knutson, who had taken a fall earlier in the trip and suffered from a concussion, is recovering well and is scheduled to head home soon. Per his request, we have arranged for another member of the tour to make sure his Model T sees the road trip through to Dearborn, but there is talk that Glyndon may be able to join up with us again at some point. Until then, we wish him all the best and are keeping him in our thoughts.
