Recently I found a '29 Model A sitting in a back yard. Sound familiar? Anyway, I've struck a deal but the owner has to apply for a lost title. She called today and says she can't find a V.I.N. I saw the post about a Model T and am wondering does that apply to The Model A? If not where do I tell her to look for it? Thanks in advance.

The Serial number is the engine number, however, over the years, the engine may have been changed. The original engine number is also stamped on the drivers side frame. Refer to the link to read more about the location, and, the same site will provide a chart of the engine number by model year.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully I'll have a new project to work on soon. It gets boring here in the middle of winter with nothing to do.
