1962 Fairlane

Just purchased a '62 fairlane project car. The front clip is in bad shape so I was wanting to put fiberglass fenders and hood on the car from Crites. All I can find available are for the '63-'64 fairlanes. Will the 63-64 fenders and hood bolt to a 62? If so, would I just have to get a 64 grill and light assemblys to complete the front end of the car?

Re: 1962 Fairlane

Well since nobody replied to this post I decided to roll the dice and spend the $1300 for the fiberglass front clip. The 64 fenders and hood to bolt directly to the '62 front end. Everything lines up perfectly just as I suspected it would. Of course since it is fiberglass there is some adjustments that have to be made to get the gaps looking good. The '64 grill and headlight assembly bold directly to the radiator support but new holes have to be drilled.

Here is a link to the project

This is what I am calling a pre-Tbolt project. What a tbolt might have looked like if there was such a thing in "62. The car will have a radical 446 stroker, toploader and 9" in the rear. It will have the appearance of a factory produced car with steel wheels, skinny slicks and factory upholstery similar to the tbolt. Will keep all the finish as close to factory as I can. so not allot of chrome or obvious aftermarket stuff will be used.

To all the Tbolt enthusiast who will frown on a project such as this, I just have this to say. I have built allot of cars, and still have allot of them in my collection. I build cars as a hobby and not to resell or to replicate what is already out there. This car will be unique and surely will draw attentions as you do not see very many of them around at shows. So it is what it is.

Re: 1962 Fairlane

I have the same car. I would have loved to have helped you with any info buuuuuuuuut I just signed on. Looked at your photos, very nice. Where did you score that '64 Grille?

My car is a full tube chassis, that's in the works, and I'm going to be doing the same thing you are with the front end, which basically looks like a '63 with a '64 grille. I thought about doing a 445cid but I'm just going to do a 390 with EFI and twin turbo's. Nothing too radical, around 650ish HP.
