1970 Torino 429 SCJ Parts Needed

I am building the 429 SCJ engine for a customer restoration and I am looking for the following parts. This is a 1970 Torino with 429 SCJ built on March 31, 1970. Please PM me with a price if you have these parts. Then I will supply my email address and you can send me photos.

1. complete smog system
2. passenger side exhaust manifold D0OE
3. D0OE-C intake manifold with no issues dated prior to 0C31
4. Thermostat housing for the intake manifold
5. D0OF-J or AA distributor with clear numbers dated prior to 0C31
6. Rev Limiter
7. Correct oil breather in very nice condition
8. SCJ oil filter adapter
9. SCJ complete oil cooling system

I will have a set of D0OE-R CJ Cylinder heads and a D0OE-C intake manifold for sale when finished at the end of January. Let me know if interested. The heads will be dated 9M8 and SPEC. The intake dated E27 (May 27 1970)

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. How much (I would want shipping by USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Box), what condition, what is the date and are the numbers clear?

Thanks

Re: 1970 Torino 429 SCJ Parts Needed

mck428cj,

Thanks for the note. I don't need the intake manifold for that 429SCJ any longer. However, I will list your item in my book in the event that I have a customer. Do you have a photo you can send? musclecars@ix.netcom.com
I was wondering if you know much about the 429 to answer this question. I thought that the 429 SCJ began in 1970 so an early SCJ manifold date would be 9H The engine we just built was a 0C31 build (March 31, 1970) I have seen a 7C intake for a (March 1967 engine) and now your's now at 6H23 (Aug 23 1966) for a 1967 engine. Was the D0OE-9425-C also used on the T-Bird 429? I don't understand the date issue. Any idea?

Thanks,
George

Re: 1970 Torino 429 SCJ Parts Needed

Parts were cast up to about 3 months prior to assembly.

Does this help.

Re: 1970 Torino 429 SCJ Parts Needed

Yes it helps, thanks.

I am wondering how a D0OE-C intake luisted for a 1970 & 1971 429 SCJ would have a casting date in August 23, 1966 and March 31, 1967. I am thinking that one of the 66-67 T-Bird models must have used the same intake. If I am not mistaken they had a 429 T-Bird in those years. Is this correct or wrong and if I am wrong then where do these dates come from? I have been offered intakes for sale with both these dates. Could it be from a boat maybe?

Mil1ion.

I don't have a photo but here is the post from mck428cj offering the SCJ intake with a 6H23 date. Even if the poster made a mistake like you can between 6 and 8, it still would not have been made for a 70-71 429SCJ. Since I have now replied to this original post maybe mck428cj will get a notice of a reply to his post and take a look and post a photo.

Re: 1970 Torino 429 SCJ Parts Needed

mil1ion,

I posted above and maybe the person with the 6H3 D0OE-C intake will post a photo. When I was looking for an intake I saw one on Ebay and I asked the seller the date. He said 7C20 and my build date was 9C31. I thought he must have made a mistake and it must have been a 9C20 as my feeling was that it could not be the date he stated. So I bought it as it was in very god shape all cleaned up and detailed, ready to go. Sure enough it was 7C20. I could not use it so I put it back on Ebay for the price I paid including shipping plus freight and it sold right away and I got all my money back. I no longer have the photo but that date was very clear and the casting number was D0OE-C and was exactly the same as the original one I had which had a date after the build date of the car. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
