Hello everyone.

I have just come in to the possession of a 1974 Ford 4D Gran Torino.
Aside from the dead battery it starts up nicely.
As I proceeded to try and move it I quickly discovered I had no movement. So I check the parking brake. The pedal itself when applying pressure does not lock down, it only comes back up to position.
The brake release when pulled does not offer any tension what so ever.

-Suggestions?

Sounds like your cabling might have seized. If the shoes are locked in the drum, trying pushing it backwards, it might pop them, but you're more than likely going to have to dismantle the rear brakes to get it towed home.

Hopefully it will not come to that. I didn't have much time to mess with it the other day. I hope it is something I can disengage by myself with a little bit of work. I did try going in drive and reverse, it jumped like it wanted to move but the rear wheels just won't rotate. Would a parking brake do that? or could it be rust or the transmission?
