I believe the 351M was similar to the 351C except to save money on the production line, they used the same deck height as the 400C- both engines could be machined on one line...the increased deck height would make the intake manifold wider, but I dont know the width...I'll take a look for some casting numbers- used to have a book around here somewhere...I dont know if they just added to piston domes or used longer rods- but surely the 351M has heavier rotating assembly.
I remember reading many years ago in a magazine(think it was hotrod) that on paper the 351C was the best engine ever designed
bore:stroke /rod angles /valve layout, etc...
The 351 windsor didnt have the valves angled for good breathing like the clevelands, so I think valve covers were narrower...Ive got a set of cleveland heads, and an old pair of windsor valve covers in the garage- will measure them later.
