My ZH is a 78 302
I'm about to replace the bonnet aiming thingo, gee they're expensive
I'll post some pics later in the week.
My mechanic gave me a set of EA Fairmont alloys which I am getting polished/sanded, whatever they do to them.
It doesn't have the strip down the side, the front has been lowered to match the back and I took off the bumper over riders
The front now reminds me of an XY
It has stainless steel dual exhausts
I've also had the lights rewired so that the low beam now has high beam as well.
It also has tint which looks great as the car is white and it also has a CD
I'd like a sub woofer, but then I need an amp and then...... SO for now I just wind down the window and drive along like that Indian guy in the Peugot Ad.
Once I get the vinyl roof off, it will look a million bucks
Cheers
Ian

Well I guess this is not exactly a Fairlane, but we did get a 'new' addition to our Ford family last week, a XA Falcon Ute, or as we call them here 'ranchero' altho they are ex Oz, not ex USA.

An XA Ute?
You don't see many of them around now.
I notice it doesn't have the mirrors that were released with the X Series Falcon.
Have you replaced them?
I recall the doors used to drop and they had a terrible clunk noise when you closed them, probably because they were pillarless I suppose

Re: Come on Fairlane Guys/Girls

They look like ZD Fairlane mirrors to me, I have seen a photo of an XA with these mirrors, but it was a test mule

Ute doors drop badly because they are the same as coupe doors, ie:long and heavy
You can get repair kits for the hinges these days though

Re: Come on Fairlane Guys/Girls

Those doors weigh a ton, as bad as my cougar's doors, you need 3 guys to hold the door and one guy to put the bolts in, sounds a bit like a blonde joke, lol. I am not sure about the mirror, they are the same as my ZD's and I would guess that the PO changed them, but there again maybe they came out like that here, there will always be a few differences between the genuine Oz model and the SA version. I am going to try and get replacements ones, maybe from Rare Spares or someone in Oz. I saved the borchure on the XA ute from the Falcon GT website so at least I know what should be on her. Definately not the FT390 V8 we are intending to put in, but ..............!
Hypo, where do you get the repair kits for the hinges, ours looks like the need a bit of 'help'.

Re: Come on Fairlane Guys/Girls

Try using a floor type transmission jack.

Does my LTD town car belong in this area? (1975 I think the model designation is p5). Mine is the Australian built one. I think there was a US Version but that may be the same name for a different car.

It is the on with the "flip up" headlight covers. Also features vinyl roof, 351 v8, fmx trans, 9inch lsd, 4 wheel disc braks, power windows, air cond plus other stuff.

It isn't really a fairlane (although it was based on it) and not really a Galaxie. Doesn't quite fit neatly anywhere.
