My LTD is a 1975 town car whish I bought in 1997. It is also a 50th anniversery special. (It has got different badges on the rear pillers. It is metallic gold (Goldrush?) with a matching Vinyl roof. Still got the original wheels. I keep the hubcaps safely locked up and use smaller xb ones most of the time.

The car is rust free but not entirely blemish free but it still looks too good to justify a respray. It has some scratches and repairs and a little fading. All the brightwork is still in place. I have had the vinyl roof replaced. I also had to replace the centre tail light section with the fairlane one bacause an idiot in a mitsubishi lancer banged into the back of me. The correct one was unobtainable

The leather seats are still good. I use sheepskin seat covers to protect them. The inside trim is good as well. It still has the original am radio and cassette deck. The car has always been kept in a garage.

It still has the original motor although I have had the heads rebuilt.

Main issues - It tends to suffer in performance because it sits around a lot. I generally only drive it on weekends. It also doesn't like LRP petrol very much. It is just ok on 98 ron unleaded but the additive tends to gum up the spark plugs.
The difficulty in finding trim parts leads to some paranoia while driving and I have to be a bit of nazi when it comes to food, drink and smoking inside the car.

Still, when I put my foot down and hear that motor roar....

Sounds like you got yourself a nice P5 there, azraelder. Wouldnt mind checking it out one day.
Many k's on it?
There wern't many of those 50th anniversery LTD's made, only 50 I think?? I could be wrong, and mostly am according to the wife...

I actually saw 2 of those C pillar badges on ebay only about a month ago, sold for over $200!

I've had the same issues as you with fuels. Mine has LPG conversion so I run it on that probably 80% of the time, robs even more power though of course. I use 98ron with valvemaster additive when on petrol aswell, seems to do the trick

I tried the good juice with additive and really I can't tell the difference between it and the LRP stuff.... maybe it's the way I drive.
Does it really make a difference on the high octane stuff?

New Fairlanes?.......
I can't afford the depreciation.
Any chance of taking us guys for a spin?
I have a suggestion, why don't we all pool our money and buy this Fairlane from the USA?
Cheers
Ian

Re: Come on Fairlane Guys/Girls

I've been a big Fairlane fan ever since I bought my first Fairlane in 1997, an imaculate bog standard 1972 ZF Fairlane 500 in Red Pepper with a genuine 24,000 miles on the clock since brand new. I treasured that thing, and only put another 5000 miles on it up until January this year - when it burned to the ground in the Canberra bushfires ....

Just two months ago I found a one owner 73 ZF also in Red Pepper, and just had to buy it. It's a factory standard 351 Tbar with integrated air, white continental vinyl roof, white upholstery, and dealer fitted jelly-bean mags. I'm rapt!

Re: Come on Fairlane Guys/Girls

Does a 1964 Fairlane 500 with 298 and three speed auto count?

It's a project car that I've had for over 20 years and only mid last year was able to find the last piece of the puzzle to have it ready to restore.

And then I go and get a job OS so I can't do it....

The plan is original body, including colour and close to original interior, the motor is one of the small bell housing versions I think and the old Cruisamatic is a little sick. The brakes are shot (as would be expected) and I'll be going discs so for the safety aspect.

I have been toying with the idea of a T3 Stroker Engine, 4 speed auto and independent rear end.
