Jobs to do are:
remove vinyl roof
replace wheels with EA 15" alloys

BTW Do the X Series Falcon mirrors look better than the standard chrome ones on these cars?

Cool car, debating on whether to paint our ZF white or black, leaning towards white, like the clean look, I think its a matter of personal taste re the mirrors, some like the original look, some don't.

Very clean looking ZH Ian, looks mean with the front sitting low, dark tint and overiders removed

I personally would leave the chrome mirrors on, they look classy, or sumthin'...
Which X series mirrors are you thinking of putting on? Just the standard XC ones?

The chrome mirrors look good but are pretty useless for seeing to the rear and adjacent lanes as they tend to magnify the image and have a narrow field.
I thought a white pair from an XC would look OK

My car has XC mirrors, and I would say they may be worse for rear vision

There's no harm in trying though, because you could pick a set up for next to nothing, probably would just have to rub them back and paint 'em

If your car is a '78 and is not a Marquis, I would pick it to be a Fairlane 500 'Sportsman', and is almost definately a Queensland build, does the chassis/engine number start with a JH?

I went to the other Forum and looked at your ZH again and noticed your mirrors.... you are right again, maybe the chrome ones do look better.
The spare was an alloy I think they called it Volante... what else did the sportsman have?

Sportsmans came standard with the chrome mirrors, colour coded vinyl roof and Volante alloys, so if your spare is a Volante, I'd say your car is a Sportsman.
Also the only picture I have of one has the bonnet ornament and C pillar badges, so I'm guessing they all had them.
There could have been a few other differences but thats all I know of.

Then JH means your car was built in Australia (J). The H means it was built at the Brissy plant (G is for broadmeadows)
and the 37 tells you its a Fairlane 500, (Marquis were stamped 63)

I dont have '78 paint/trim codes on me but basically the only exterior white of the time was 'Sno White'.
Trim colours were Black,Cream,Saddle,Dusk and Jade. The first two are self explanitory with the Saddle being darker than the Cream, more like a tan colour I spose. There was a bluey/grey colour that I'm guessing is Jade, and I wouldnt have a clue what the Dusk looks like

Anyway, I'll stop rambling on for now

Mine had the bonnet emblem and also the same on the C pillars which I notice are not on your car Hypo. BTW have you had your seats redone?

I've only had the car a little over 6 months so it's a credit to the previous 2 owners really

Does your car have electric windows or the leather door strap pulls like the Marquis had?
Just interested to see if they came with the Sportsman
