I've been working on my '65 galaxie 352 convt. recently and I've noticed my engine has some very different features than most everyones else. Such as plain (non-dome top) valve covers that are torquise in color. No pcv system, there is just a draft tube sticking out back of the intake manifold going down to the ground. Oil filler neck is on the front of the intake manifold and not the valve cover, and it has a 2bbl carb. Also I'm not quite sure what color the engine is soposed to be since the valve covers are torquise, and my dad recalls it being a greenish color when he bought it new in Canada. The car body is green itself so that would be nice if the engine was matched from the factory.

Whats unique about yours is that its an original, one owner Galaxie, no one has had a chance to add all sorts of mods to it, have you checked with those links I gave you under the engine paint section.

I checked them all out, by looking at pictures of Australias car club it seems like there engines are just black and gold and ford blue. http://www.lovefords.com/tech/Vin/paint/engine.htm, this website is very nice for outside paint becasue they even have paint chip colors which will help me out later. Right now im just going to paint my engine pontiac metallic blue so I can put the engine back together, its been apart for a couple of months now since it was never washed before there was mounds of gease and oil everywhere.

So long as you are not going to be entering her in any concours shows, then I don't really see what the problem is with painting the engine the colour you like, that colour sounds nice, post a pic when you are done, my cougar engine is powder coated RED, not by me, by a colourblind previous owner, first thing I am going to change when I ever get round to taking the engine out one day, I am going to paint it Ford Corporate Blue, the darker blue, apparently its the correct colour, my husbands 72 cougar's engine is black, with chrome valve covers, etc, looks really cool.

I don't think I'm going to make it show quality anyways. I might have to make it into a semi-daily driver this summer. Ford has a canadian historical department and I sent them an email and it usually takes them a month or so to reply back because they are so busy. So in a few weeks I'll know what color its soposed to be for sure.
