late model fairlanes

Hi my mate wants to by a late model fairlane , approx '97 onwards, with a V8 would any body out there be kind enough to let us know what problems, if any, and what to look at when buying, also how does the engine/drive train stand up to hot hard work, eg towing horse floats in central QLD. Any help appreciated.
