After catching up with Paul and a good chat about P6's, I have grown a greter appreciation for my P6 Towncar. My Towncar, one of 400 built, is in good condition regarding a concourse type restoration and rightly deserves it.
My initial plan was to build it as if Ford Australia had built a GT version of the LTD such as the GT Galaxies etc in the US. I wanted to confuse people and try to produce this with appropriate badging and engine detailing (Ford alloy rocker covers, Boss decals etc, standard wiring, etc), Mustang alloy wheels etc. I would remove the wheel arch trims, sill trims etc, over riders then paint another ford colour.
It seems ashame to do this to a P6 Towncar but while appreciating concourse condition cars, I have always preferred something different, Hence my LX torrie with an all alloy 4.4L V8 from a P76.
What do you all think I should do. Comments would be appreciated, I'm sure I know what Paul would say.
1 Sell car to me.
2 Take your pick of any one of my 8 P6's
3 Go beserk on said Silver Monarch/standard LTD (have mentioned rocker covers, carb etc, all yours for the taking !!!!!)
4 I will restore your (soon to be mine :o)) Charcoal P6 Town Car.
Damn simple I say.
I actually have 2 quite good Silver Monarchs, one more so than the other. This is one is saying "Dean, Dean - come take me away and make me into an Aussie GT saloon".
My brothers building up a P5 but we're having trouble getting new electric window switches. Do you guys know where we could get some ?
But it should be good with a 460 in it for licensing and a 545 for driving , should do 11:20 to 11:50 over the quarter

Somehow I knew you would make on offer like that, And I was even thinking that myself. Maybe when the time comes to take the car off the road, we can sort something else out, seeing as I'v owned two Charcoal Towncars already, lol.
Landau's are nice, there is one for sale ATM in Perth, asking around 10k though from memory.
Do you have a Landau yet Paul?
As for the Town Car, I say restore it to original. especially considering there waS only 400 built. I'm (trying) to restore my garden variety ZH and there was around 17000 odd of the damn things built!

Yes I do. It is a 1974 model that is factory Burgandy, black vinyl roof with factory black leather seats. It is in a bit of a state but will restore nicely. I have a spare complete P5 that I intend to get the required missing bits from.
