Does anybody know how to decode the vin # and tell me what it all means?

1=61 model year
n=norfolk, virginia assembly plant
53=2 door club victoria starliner
z=390 4 barrel
132762=32,762 off the assembly line

i can decode the body plate too, its on the front pillar(door jamb i think)

Sorry for bumping to an old thread.

I don't think there is a decoder on the web for models prior to 1980's (if you know one please share it)

And for others who googled "ford decoder" as I did and came across this page, you can try out VIN decoder, VIN Information, Ford Automotive VIN, Vehicle Identification Number - AutoVINdecoded.com . It gave accurate result for my focus :)
