Hello everyone,

New member here and I'm seeking information on a '64ish Galaxie. Not really new to the whole classic car game, I have a '78 F150 as my daily driver, but was looking to expand my car accumulation a little bit and wanted some information.

1) I know the engines pretty well, 390, 289, 427, etc. Which would you say is the fastest/most sought after? Assuming the 427 but I know 390s can have a lot of capability.

2) Transmissions. My truck above is a 4-speed NP435, no overdrive or anything fancy, its very slow and doesn't get up very quick. From my initial reading, the '64ish Galaxies used Borg-Warner T10's as the only standard transmission. Could someone please correct me if I'm wrong?

3) How fast are these cars and are they practical for speeds over 65mph? The reason I ask this is that this car would probably become my daily driver that wouldn't be restricted to heavy duty truck speeds like my '78 is now.

So do the transmissions have overdrive? Does anyone know the 4th gear ratio for 4-speed '64 Galaxies?
