I am new to the forum and have come for a bit of advice. Being a multi-car brand owner all my life and former owner of several classic cars, I have taken a shine the the 1964 Galaxie 500 XL convertible. Since I am not well versed on the Ford Galaxies and their possible shortfalls or weak areas, and don't live next door to Greg Donahue, I was wondering if anyone can tell me any of the problem ares on these cars and where they are prone to rust. Best engine package. Also, did the convertibles have a soft or hard rear window? Being from Pennsylvania I get to attend the Carlisle events shows where a multitude of car present themselves for purchase. Between the shows, internet, and word of mouth I am hoping to find that special '64.

Most of my experience with Ford has been with their trucks and a few Cougars. I appreciate all input.

Actually there aren't as many shortfalls with owners as you might imagine. The '64 Galaxies were especially popular and desirable being one of the top NASCAR contenders to the HEMI that year and giving them a hell of a run for their money. The 427 was a nice engine. Although I loved the gas-easy 289. Overdrive automatic C-4's were available that year and provided for extra fuel mileage in the 289. Lots to see if you missed this year car.
