1966 Barn Find

Found a 66 Galaxie 500 XL 2 Door here locally that has a verified 31XXX Miles on it. Current owner got it when his Grandma passed away, and it has been sitting under a Tarp in his driveway for the past 10 years. I had it running in about 10 minutes, it has the 352 V-8 with no AC. NO RUST that I could find and I looked over under and inside. he is asking 1500 for it and that seems to be a great deal. All it needs is Tires, Oil Change and Tune up to be a daily driver. He says he is letting it go cheap because he needs the cash and does not want the car to rot away. I only have some Phone Camera Pictures right now, I will get some real pictures later. What do you guys think? Should I cough up the 1500 or should I try to work it a bit?

cool Re: 1966 Barn Find

Looks pretty good. Looks solid in your pictures. Go for it!!! From what I've heard from people who live in Idaho, your winters come somewhat early sometimes. Get the car, do the maintenance, and drive it some. They're meant to be driven.

Re: 1966 Barn Find

thats a 65- and it looks pretty good :)

be sure to check the frame carefully- try grasping the rails just behind the torque boxes and squeeze- if it feels 'crunchy' its not a good sign, but not to uncommon...the arches in front of rear wheels are prone to collect dirt inside too- if youre in a area that never uses roadsalt, should be ok, but be sure to tap around for soft spots
