I have a 66 galaxie that I am looking to swap from a 289 to a 429. The original 289 has 52,000 miles on it and runs strong so I would like to keep it off to the side if I deside to put it back. I want to keep everything as original as possible in case I do deside to put it back. The question I have is what all would need to be changed?(mounts, plates, etc.) If I have to swap and modify too many things I will leave the 289 and find another car for my 429.The 429 is a 72 if that helps. Also the car has a cruise-o-matic automatic transmission with the bolt on bell housing. If I got a 429 bell housing could I use this transmission or would I need to find something else? Thank You.

You'd need a C6 transmission and definitely different mounts. I've been contemplating the same thing for my 59 Galaxie, just with a 460.
