I've restored a few cars and pickups in the past, but have been getting little interest in the Galaxie, like the idea of a big sled that the whole family can ride in. In an upcoming farm auction I found a 64 convertible parked in the trees that is fairly straight and has a 63 convertible parts car and a 64 4 door that could be a parts car. Is the trim interchangable? What is the most common power swap? I have a good 302 with a C4 trannie that would provide basic power (not looking at running 1/4 miles).

The 63 & 64 Galaxie convertibles made in the US and Canada all have similar to identical power train, (motors, trannys, rear axles, etc.) All the glass is identical, windshield, doors and rear quarter glass. Major changes were in the body style from 63-64. All the suspension and steering is the same and parts are interchangeable. Some minor interior changes, like slightly different seats and dash trim etc. Big blocks motors could be interchanged along with the tranny. Small block to big blocks or visa versa for interchange would be different for motor mounts. Six cylinder to a V-8 would be cause for some backyard engineering. Brake systems would be basically the same if both vehicles had similar power train, eg 352 or 390 engines. Best bet is get yourself an interchange manaul from one of the Auto literature suppliers.
