Re: 65 galaxie 500 fuel tank

I've looked for 2 hours and can't find one anywhere.

Here's a post from a different forum that might be of interest.

1965 Galaxie Gas Tank
I have read that I can install a 66-68 gas tank in my 65 Galaxie 500 Convertible. Can anyone direct me? Will it fit with the stock 66-68 tank straps? Straps should be easy to fab. Real question is if anyone's done this. The fit to the filler neck, and if the sending unit will be a problem. I'd guess A 66=68 sending unit is called for. Please help a brother out, during Lent, and I've given up beer. God bless your momma.
(Y'all should know this a real straight $1600 survivor. Original black paint, red interior, working top and 352.)
Please

I put a new 66 tank in my 65. The 66 tank is a little bigger. You will need to use the 66 straps. The filler necks are also slightly different. I am almost 100% sure that I had to use the 66 neck. Hope this helps.
I would be willing to bet he meant to say he had to use the 65 neck.

Hope this helps.

check over at fordmuscleforums dot com in their galaxie thread...I am pretty sure I recall reading the 66 tank required a new seal and straps...that one thread on that site gets a boatload of galaxie traffic
