69 Galaxie 500 Cop Car - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

Hi everyone,
I am new to the forum and live in Colorado. I am a police officer on a small municipal police department and have recently taken possession of my cities first police car a 1969 Galaxie 500 4 door.

Supprisingly the car is in fairly decent condition with the exception of the interior which is in horrible condition. The car is powered by a 390 with an automatic transmissions that seems to leak out the fluid as fast as I put it it. The 390 is in great condition and runs very well. The brakes on the other hand are pretty damn scary. The body is solid with minimal surface rust and severely faded white paint. All of the emergency equipment (i.e. lights, sirens, radio, spot lights etc.) is intact but in need of rewiring. All in all the car is very solid and should restore fairly well.

Now onto the problem I am having a hard time finding interior pieces (i.e. seat covers, headliner, door panels, plastic interior trim, etc.). If anyone can point me in the right direction for anyone reproducing or selling NOS parts for this car I would greatly appreciate it.

Try Ebay for starters... lots of NOS there sometimes!

Brother- I have a 69 as well, and I can find some interior parts at dearborn classics and dennis carpenters (just do a serach on-line)--but..... cannot find door trim panels, or arm rests, or dash parts. I have no idea where these parts are unless you get lucky on ebay. The seat materials and carpets are easily located, but other than that, you'd think you had bought a rare mopar. It seems like parts for the 68 and older models are easier to come by-----maybe more sought after, I dont know. Let me know what you find, and I'll continue looking and fill you in if I come across anything.

i have a caniadian working for me in australia, he talks about home and how cheap the cars are, also mentioned that there is alot of X sherif cars sold back to the public, Thats cool, i would be booking my friends as a joke.
