Cooling problem HELP!!!!

Just bought a 64 Galaxie 500 Fastback with 289. The engine was overheating. It was driving me crazy. So first thing I did was remove the GM radiator, that someone over the years had tied up with chicken wire, and threw it away. Installed new OEM Ford radiator. Installed new Water Pump. New thermostat. All new hoses upper lower and heater hoses. New belts. Rechecked timing. Fill her up with 50/50. Start her up take her for a spin. Same exact thing as before. It runs so hot after a five minute ride that hot steam is coming out of my radiator overflow tube. Feels like right now I wasted a lot of time and money because nothing has changed. Am I doing something wrong. Also when the engine overheats there are small metal filings that I find on top of the radiator core. Frustrated in CT...

Thanks for any help,

Matt

Matt--the only way metal filings can get into the system is water pump impeller got to be rubbing housing--nothing else rotates in system, if these are not from privious problems check that water pump--flush system completely--guess you don't have oil/water mix problems or noticeable leaks--could be 2 separate problems too--filings from prievous--blown head gasket causing overheating--bob
