Looking to buy a 67 Country Sedan, what to look for?
Like it says, I'm looking at a 67 Country Sedan (wagon) for sale this weekend.
It's got a rebuilt 390 with 6k mi since the rebuild. Owner claims it's running strong. Still has a stock 2bbl carb (which will be the first thing go). Transmission is original and he says it hasn't given him any problems.
Just to get my facts straight, it should have a C4 and 9", right?
It's got power steering and power brakes (drums up front). The front end has been rebuilt.
The interior is in relatively crappy shape, and red, which is not a favorite of mine, so it's probably on its way out.
Per his description, there are no rust issues except for the tailgate, which is apparently kinda bad. The rear window works with the key in the door, but not with the dash switch.
Basically, it's in pretty good mechanical shape, with an assortment of cosmetic issues.
It's listed at $3000.
I know how to look over a used car in general, but I was wondering if there's anything specific I should look out for, namely things that can get really expensive or time consuming to replace or deal with...the kind of stuff that screams "stay away!"...or at least requires a drop in price.
...also, what do you think of that price?
I'm generally planning to make a daily driver/cruiser out of it. Probably do some light modernization, disc brakes, electronic ignition, under/overdrive unit, maybe AC. Not really going to be king of the drag strip, but hopefully to embarrass a few V6 camaro drivers now and then.
Thanks. Hope to be among your ranks soon.
