My name is Lou and I am from Melbourne Australia.
I become the owner of a 1962 Galaxie 500 Club Victoria with 375hp 390.
I sent an email in December of 2008 from a friend of the family that imports US cars into Australia. I was sent a bunch of pics and was told that the car had only done 9400 miles, the body and stainless was straight and rust free.
Anyway I concluded the deal the car arrived in Feb 2009 and went the see the car just after Aust Customs and processed it.

The bumpers would need to be rechromed and the stainless would have polished. The interior looked like it was new however, the car had spent the last 14years parked under a carport with a galvanized roof in the California desert.

Even though the interior look OK the ravages of time in the heat, made all
the seat upholstery very brittle it soon cracked and broke up.

Under the hood was not much prettier

As part of the deal the long cast iron headers were in the trunk when I picked the car from the transport depot and I drove the car 30 miles to my
home!!!! I soon worked out the brakes were going to need attention as well as the carbs were going to have a rebuild kit put through them to get the car running properly.

Here is a shot of the spare, it has never been on the car.

As you can see in the above shot that the condition of the paint is not good. Of concern is the the metal underneath the paint of the hood, a section of the roof, the tops of the rear quarters and the trunk lid.
Underneath the car is a completely different story, no rust, no damage and paint is in much better condition, in fact with a wash, it is like new.
