Re: need opinions

Sounds like the needle valve is letting fuel in the float bowl from fuel pump pressure and flooding the carb after shut down. This would give you hard starting after a few minutes. If you don't have this problem on cold starts or extended shut off after an hour or so that could be the problem. Also your float level could be set too high and can cause similar problem. Another problem too is when you shut off the motor your intake manifold gets a little hotter and can cause gasoline in the float bowl to bubble up as some of the heat is absorbed in the carb housing. As it evaporates off more fuel comes in through the needle valve until all fuel pressure is gone from the fuel pump. If the carb hasn't been touched for a long time I would suggest change the needle valve and seat and check float level. This is all from my experience over the years. Hopefully someone else has another idea re your problem.
