I have a 63 galaxie with a VIN with an engine code of "C". I am pretty sure that it is a 289. Has anyone heard of a 289 being in a galaxie. I can not find any repair manuals that include the 289. Does anyone know what other cars had this engine???

Yes, the Galaxies came with 289's. Not sure if the 63 Fairlanes had the 289 or 260 for 63, but I think it was 64 when the 260 was droped from the line up and the 289 was in the Fairlanes, Folcons and the Galaxies.

I could be wrong, but the 260 V8 was dropped very early in production of the 1963 full size Fords in favour of the 289 V8, but the 260 continued in the Fairlanes and Falcons.

P.S. I have a 1966 Custom 500 (basically a Galaxie) with the original 289 in it.
