Will '76 390 truck engine fit my 64 galaxie - Ford Forums - Mustang Forum, Ford Trucks, Ford Focus and Ford Cars

I found a newly rebuilt 390 in a '76 ford PU for sale. I could use the rebuilt top end of my 352 (heads, 4bbl carb, & intake) to possibly give it some more hp but I don't know if the '76 uses the same mounting, etc. Somebody told me that in 67 the mounting on the 390 changed. any ideas?

I have a hollander book for 54-66 that gives the engine code for my galaxie of 684, but I can't find my book that goes up to 78, I think?

As far as I know, the 352, 360 and 390 blocks are a direct bolt in swap. I'm not sure about the 428. It would be pretty simple to measure the position of the motor mounts to compare one to the other. Steve

Check bolt hole location on the 76 motor, and if you still got the motor mounts from the 64 block see if they match the holes, then use them. The truck motor mounts could be diffrent for mounting to the truck frame crossmember.
