My BA XR8 ute is getting close to the majic 10,000k mark. I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how hard the power surge will hit...Is it safe to drive on the local streets or should I head bush somewhere away from other people and cars?

This is where the auto comes into its own I suppose, with the power absorbing torque convertor... hopefully it should take a lot of the shock force out of the drive line.

Well, I am off to set my head rest in the right position just to save me from possible whiplash...

If anyone has any advice on how to control this massive power surge. Please let me know...

This is serious stuff Rod....

I would put the dog and wife in the house and back up and down the driveway with a hand on the handbrake and the foot over the brake.

Keep the garage door up just in case the ute gets away from you.

I'd put a call into the police and ambulance as well, you can't be too careful.

All seriousness Rod, youd be better off going to the local garden yard and throwing in a few bags of builders cement to keep the arse end down- you may not be watching when the speedo ticks over. More importantly, make sure you have plenty of rubber on the back treads, my ute kicked out like hell when it reached 10,000....

I just hope Jason keeps an eye on this thread because I think his ute isn't far off the magical 10,000k mark as well....

Hi guys, I don't know much about V8s but I got curious...whats this 10,000k mark thingy? You guys make it sound like some sort of timebomb Ford strapped into all of the cars that leave the Ford plant.

HOTDBZ, the majical 10 mark is where some guys have felt an enormous change in performance with the Boss engines as the ECU unleashes the big V8s potential after being held back while the engine, trans and diff is run in properly.....

Hey Rod, i think it is something like one of those "placebo" drug tests that they give hypochondriacs. You know one tablet full of nothing and one with pain killers. The magic 10,000k rush is all in the mind, just like the healing effects of a tablet full of nothing, it's all in the mind, or so i have been told
