1989 Ford E150 Econoline 302FI/With ATO

I have a 1989 ford E150 Econoline 302FI/With ATO, you can start it and it will set and idle in park all day long, just as soon as you start to give it any gas , it wants to miss, and cough, and snort. Then it dies, and the only way it will start again , is if you hold the gas pedal all the way to the floor, then it will start but it takes a few cranks, any Ideas?

Well, with the lack of useful info...... first guess-fuel filter. The more info you give, helps us help you.

Re: 1989 Ford E150 Econoline 302FI/With ATO

I am having trouble with my van 1989 Ford E150 Econoline . When I first start up the van if I dont "floor" the gas and then take off it shuts off. It is also blowing black smoke, bucking , stalling.
When i get to a stop sign if i dont just blow the stop sign or hold the gas pedal all the way down and stay in neutral it shuts off.
Live in NY...had hard winter so I basically was just starting the van every
other day...was not driving it often. So from April first to July 2015 I did
not drive car but only once to put gas in it.
Help!!!
not sure if spark plugs need to be cleaned or replaced
not sure if i need new oil filter (checked oil it is clean)
not sure if i need new air filter
thx

answered in your other post.

Ever notice that there's so many high performance parts available for GM products?

Did you ever think that maybe they NEED them?
