As I brush though the threads I've seen a lot of negitivity towards manuals.
These have been mainly featured in warranty claims, but bugger all for autos.
Lets here your thoughts lads, I've yet to decide????

Call me lazy but I like the clutchless sequential manual in my SSS auto... I use it all the time and I'm sure it's led to better fuel ecconomy because I reckon the auto in adaptive mode is way too lazy becaseu the torque of the boss makes it think it can drive everywhere in 4th...

What I'd like to see in the SSS auto is different gear ratios and more of them.. and it seems the 6 speed auto has this covered. I'd love to know if it's possible and how much it'll cost to switch gear boxes from the 4 to the 6 speed..?

In my book, the auto will re-sell easier when the time comes.

how much do you like to drive?

my S1 BA ute is a V8 manual and i love it! it is a bit of a pain in the city traffic and you cant punch through the cogs like a rice burning EVO, but there's nothing hitting the open road, finding a B double in the way, dropping the stick back to 4th and whipping past before the next corner. The manual will have you there before the auto has finished thinking about it!

resale depends on the car, i'd pay more for any car that was well looked after, but a well looked after car that is manual, thats rare in my book.

resale depends on what the buyer is lookiing for, I bought my XR8 ute second hand and spent weeks looking for a manual, they're hard to find and that in itself makes them worth more.

I have the manual in my BA GT-P and am happy with it, but the manual in the missus' XR6T series 1 daily driver drives me nuts. I would prefer an auto in the XR.

If its not a daily driver or you dont live too close to the city, I like a manual. My 5sp BA XR8 doesn't have the smoothest box in the world but it ranks pretty high on the 'fun to drive' scale. Ive had a GT before that was an auto but the BA is one of the best Ive owned.

Why don't Ford offer the 6 speed manual on the XR6? I think they'd be surprised at the demand.

The auto is pretty good in manual mode, except the gate should be CLOSER to the driver than the normal gate. It's a pain having to reach across to change gear. Also, would be better without the slight delay when you change gear, although I guess it's no slower than a manual gearchange. But it's great being able to hold a gear right through a corner.

5 speeds would be good too - I recently drove a Magna with the 5 speed auto, which was great. Pity about the rest of the car.

I have a manual in my old XH XR6 ute and while it goes well and behaves I will go for an auto next time, (Im a lazy bastard)

I have auto in the AuXR ute and had some problems with it,bought the auto because my better half might need to drive but doesn't!Next time a manual.

i bought my lpg BA ute with the auto because i drive in the traffic and traffic lights every day but if i still lived in the country i would proberly have gone for the manual.
the sequencial shift is great.
