I test drove a BA XLS STYELSIDE a few weeks ago and was quite impressed. i had the tarp on it all day long and couldnt hear any noise. it was a manual with 16,000klm on clock.

i test drove a BA XL today with 45,000klm that had a alum tray (can rember brand) and it seemed very noisy compared to the styleside. do u think the noise is from the tray (with no tarp), or the fact that it is a xl and not xls (no carpet in xl...so maybe noiser???) or something else. the tyres on both utes where good, the xls had cargos on it and i think the same with the tonner. is there any other differnce such as padding etch on the xls that makes them quitere??

What sort of noise do you mean? A dropside tray is fundamentally a lot noisier, particularly aluminium ones. Clunks and rattles would probably come from the tray, general road/wind/tyre the cab insulation differences.

yeah, it was an alum dropside tray with no tarp, so i guess that would be it. but in comparision to the xls styleside with tarp, the xls drove and sounded like a sedan, not a ute.
