is it right that the XR8 ute costs only $500 more than an XR6 turbo ute. have i got this right?
if so, then why is the XR8 sedan so much more expensive?

The difference is more like $1250 between XR6t and XR8 utes, but yes, it is much less than the difference between the sedans.

My guess would be that in a ute almost everything from the B pillar back is identical between 6t and 8. There may be a lot more 'extras' added between 6t and 8 sedans, extras not available on utes maybe?

Dunno, just guessing.
