the xls ute at work is drinking a bit its lucky to get 400k to a tank has any one els got a ute to compare to or had the prob
ford say the motor is still tight but is crap i think my au would get about 500+ when it was new
What load does it carry? We changed an AU ute from 3.45 to 3.7 diff and the fuel economy improved dramatically. This vehicle is constantly loaded with at least 550kg though.(note- the change of diff ratio in a BA has got computer issues).

mmm not sure what wieght its got on borad just at the baxr6 had a computer problem same thing uesing heaps of fule changed the computer it is much better not sure of how meny kays the xr is geting
Hey bud , had my BA XR8 1 week , done 550 K's .......1 tank can't complain , had an AU XR8 with chip , roughly 220 KW 430 K's per tank . Not sure but I think I'm in front .

Who did your chip? My mate's AUII XR8 with unichip and Herrod extractors and a three inch single got 700km to a tank.

Don't know if you may already know this or even if it is practical for you but I just bought an AUIII XLS new and I've been told by a couple of people to keep the tonneau on it. This reduces drag and of course reduced resistance = better fuel economy.
My first tank I got about 700km out of with about 300 km of highway driving. The engine 164 kw hp I know it's a different model etc but the I've read threads saying pretty much the same that the AU ute can be guzzlers also.
Oh damn. My Pursuit looks like getting around 500km from a tank while I pussy foot around and run it to fumes. Too early to tell for sure.

After filling my tank on Saturday night , distance to empty showed 368klm . I get 20.5lites per 100k , which is down fron 23.5.
If I wanted to get great fuel milage , I'd ride a scooter , but then my sex life just wouldn't be the same .
