BA XR6 & XR8 towbars

Finally haymen reece have got off their ass and started making the towbars that i designed.

now, these fit under your back bumper so that you dont have to cut anything.
its rated to 1250kg on a tounge hitch that simply takes 2mins to either put on or take off. its 2 24mm bolts that hold it in place like the normal hitches.

you may think 1250kg isnt enough, but who tows a trailer all that often?
most guys with these utes will probably tow tradesman, motorbike, jetski, even boats.. this towbar will handle it. if you have a caravan, you'll probably have an auto family car anyways! :)

i will post pics tomorrow.

the benifit being, you cant see it with its off and you dont have a stupid looking hold cut into your bumper!

if your interested, pm me or go to your nearest HR dealer and get one. well worth it. i believe they will retail between $240 and $280.

even if you have lowered your ute, it will be fine!

I have a "Boronia" towbar fitted to my XR6 Turbo and the bumper insert remains inplace you can't see a towbar is fitted. Simply pull the insert out and screw in the two bolts. This towbar is rated at 1600kgs and is available from outlets. The cost was $245 fitted with a chrome ball included.

Re: BA XR6 & XR8 towbars

Well done Teza and HR. Looks like I might be visiting the local dealer before long. The ute's big enough for most crap I carry (thread on this soon) but you can always find more crap to carry. Can you get hold of a specific model no. of this new design?

cthor57, I presume you're talking about a sedan as the Ute's do not have an insert and a bloody ugly off centre (never straight) hole has to be cut in the bumper.

one more with it on.

What do you think?

cant see nothing, no ugly holes, no square hitches, no cut-out inserts.

i cant see the difference between 1250 and 1600 they use the same 2 bolts.
if you look at the tounge, im sure this can easily tow more.

this set up is great, everything is hidden, it takes less than 2mins to put it on and take it off and you only need a 24mm ratchet.

since getting this, HR are going to weld a plate on the side of the hitch for the rectangle/round plug. again, this will be hidden.

as you can see, the bolts are almost even with the zorst tips. i have never scraped the tips, so hopefully i wont hit the towbar! and my ute has been lowered all round...

there is also room room to drop the tailgate.. but like alot of other utes you probably wont be able to drop it on a trailer hitch without dinting the tailgate.

Madder, i will get the model number from HR tomorrow.
will post it tomorrow night.

it has taken a while, but i got there!
