Clear tail lights? Yay or Nay?? (Birthday pressie suggestion)
Hi All,
My boyfriend has recently purchased an XR8 ute in mandarin. His birthday is coming up and I was thinking of getting him some clear tail lights and clear side indicator lights too. I want to surprise him so i don't want to ask him, but what do u all think of the clear tail lights? Yay or nay?
I saw a link on this site with some clear tail lights but then theres ones that are tinted black too! so right now i'm pretty confused. http://www.ozeparts.com.au/
I'm not sure where to get them here in Perth, WA or how much this will set me back?? Are there other different types too?
His car is mandarin colour he's lowered, tinted windows, exhaust and air-intake, black sunroof put in, stereo so the next most unexpensive thing is the tail lights. i know he wants new mags and rims but i'll be buggered if i'm gonna spend $5,000 on his b'day!!
So with the above description of the colours of his car, do u think that the black tail lights would be best?? or should i go clear? or should i forget tail lights all to gether and if so, what else can you suggest I get for his car??
Just after a little advice from all of you out there, I don't want to get them for him and then find out when he's on the road everyone thinks it looks crap.

Personally im not a fan of them, id make sure he really wants them before you buy them. Have you thought about a short shifter, they're a bit more expensive than the lights but are well worth it, my mrs bought me one for our anniversary. Or maybe a Momo gearknob if he doesnt already have one??
Re: Clear tail lights? Yay or Nay?? (Birthday pressie suggestion)
People seem to either love them or hate them.. and it wouldn't be good if you bought them only to find he didn't like them.
Does the ute have mudflaps or 'spats' as they seem to be known as these days..? I reckon black extras look nice on your b/f's car colour and a set of muddies shouldn't cost more than $100.00 for a set.

shortshifter or a blowjob! he'll like both better than some crappy taillights!

Hi i wouldnt go for the tail lights, i agree with fordy go for a momo gear knob or maybe even a lower grill check ebay some cheap thimgs on there. good luck
Re: Clear tail lights? Yay or Nay?? (Birthday pressie suggestion)
You say he bought it recently?
Just be careful, as all the clear tail lights i have ever seen will not fit into any falcon ute made after about june 04, the reason being that the current tail lamp incorporates the reverse light into them, where as the older BA mk1 and AU have a seperate reverse light inlet into the rear bumper.
All Falcon utes since the AU use whatever tail lamp that ford USA are producing for the F-series pickups. Currently they are identical to the F250. I have a Mandarin XR6T and would love a set for it, but i have 5 companys here and 3 international dealers in the states looking for the new lamps for me, but currently have nothing to show me. They all say there expecting them to be developed and marketed at the end of feb.
My suggestion, get your boy the gear knob and a blow job!
