Hi all

I drive a 96 longreach and sometimes (in fact nearly all the time) whenever i drive through deep water on the road at a reasonable speed, (60km/h or so), when i slow down to stop at lights or something it shit's itself, and wont start for about 5 mins.

Does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it??

Sounds like the distibuor cap may have a leak, definately something electrical related getting wet.

Does it just feel like complete loss of power and a shutdown, or does it cough and splutter then die.

Sounds like something getting wet and grounding out, causing the shutdown, I would guess water into the distributor, check the cap fro cracks and that is seated properly. When I had points in my cortina, was pouring ran I was driving down the highway, I go twater in the cap, car just lost power and shut down, lights on but no starting, and to clean the points to get going again, but I would start with that, maybe just get a new one :0)
