mad diff leak

I have an au2 xl ute and the diff is leaking around the face where the bolts are.Now its only slight but my local ford dealer said it needs a gasket put in it.I took it to a diff specialist and he said the same.He also said it was common on the ELs and that ford dont put gaskets in the diff they just seal it in the factory. Why the frig not.?Mine is a single spinner .Is it the same as the EL diffs.?Some of the problems ive had since ive had it are just crap workmanship.Theyve only been minor .I think ill lean towards a jap motor next.Anyway merry xmas boys.

Re: diff leak

Most of the time they use a sealant not a gasket.

Re: diff leak

yeh it run out a few months ago.The thing that shits me xr8 utey is that they had it under warranty when they started putting chocks on to realign the diff cause i was getting viabration. It turned out it was the front rims but they could see it was leaking and did f a about it .And the other point is im told its been common on them for years so why not put a gasket in there to stop the leaking.Anyway thats my moan for the week. Thanks for the replys

Re: diff leak

Hey guyls listen iv got a EL Fairmont, and the diff is leaking pretty bad, today o took a long trip in the hott weather and when i came home it leaked big time and drops came from various places above the diff, it is possible while i was driving for it to be spilling out on the the bottom of the car?? Funny thing is al thats the rear seal was changed last week, im assuming dodgy workmenship..
