as some of you would be aware im getting rid of my car and picking up a yoot
what my dilemma is atm is which one!
the scenario is its out of either an AU2/3 XR8 ute and a low k's second hand BA XR6 ute
the XR8 is around the $30,000 mark (some series 3's theyre still wanting close to $35,000) and have found there arent very many around at all
the XR6 i have seen a few now at dealers for around the $32,000 to $35,000 mark
ok now advantages and disadvantages for both
AU2/3 XR8
Advantages
aggressive front end styling
the V8! which i havent owned one yet and would love to
little bit cheaper but not by much
its not a series 1 which seem to have a few issues in all models (even BA) Disadvantages
Quite hard to find!
interior not as good as the BA
less of a warranty
not as good resale
BA XR6
Advantages
new front end
new 6
still a couple years warranty
better interior
easier to find Disadvantages
quality issues with series 1
bit more expensive
not an 8
im still leaning towards the XR8 atm but am finding it hard to find one!
i want to go through a dealer as i want to finance some of it and if i need to trade my old car in it will make the change over easier as i wont be without a car in between
i was in the same boat and i ended up getting the BA XR8 ute.
get the AUII wack a BA ass end bumper, wicked exhaust note, even touch up the interior and add whatever stereo you want!
if you want a V8, dont get a 6! simple. i know finances come into it, but even if you wait a few months mate, it'll be worth it.
I had the same decision to make. The way i looked at it was. I could buy the Ba Xr6 with no options. Or find a Fully optioned Au2 Xr8 with low k's.
When your looking around the $30,000 you should be able to pick up a AU 2 XR8 ute with.
Leather (for $30,000 it would wanna have it)
Hard Tonea cover
Premium sound
A lot of em have the tow pack
Cabin tidy's
If your lucky maybe even Sat NAV and/or the factory bodykit/momo gear
And the k's should be under say about 60,000.
And if you find one at a ford dealer get some free Xr mats and other stuff out of him as well.
Being a used car you will probally be able to get one with
Tinted windows
Pehaps an exhaust.
I can't see you being entertained with any thing less than a GT or a Pursuit considering your going to be getting out of a car with 206RWKW.
Choice is yours just make sure you think long and hard
yeah Teza if i was buying the BA new i wouldnt even consider the 6! only 5 grand more and you have the 8, 6 wouldnt be worth it, but when i was seeing a few secondhand xr6's for low 30's thats why i considered them
and sylox thats the thing mate, finding the ute, im after manual, leather, hard cover (but could obviously fit later), bodykit, and in a dark colour like black, blue or meteorite and id be happy
went and checked a 2002 series 3 one out at a dealer the other day, didnt have leather or hard cover and the gutter side rims were a bit busted up, had 50k on it and they wanted $34,000, told him i didnt think it was worth that much and his response was "yeah it is" and then he walked off, then so did i
ive just gotta find that one!!
theyre pretty scarce...
The obvious one to get would be the BA which as you said warranty wise and resale you are better of but like Teza, I would go for the XR8 AU if you can find one. Take it from me you won't be dissapointed.
hi Falkeen, check this he will not take any offers . AU XR8 III BLACK 2002 46,000 KLMS $30,000,5 speed Manual.
