Hey guys,
I'm new to the forums!

For my first post I would like to ask for some general info on falcon/XR utes. I've done research but hardly been able to find the specs let alone forums or sites devoted to them.

I'm interested in buying a ute, but need to consider a few things;

-Has it got guts? Auto/manual better off the line?
-Handling/cornering?
-What features has it got?
-Cost?
-Is there a hardtop available for the tray? Waterproof?
-Stereo install issues
-How does it compare to the equivalient sedan/wagon?

Anyone got any buying recomendations or suggestions on late model utes?

I would be most interested in hearing from ute owners who can share their thoughts....

I did all my research at www.ford.com.au where if you go to commercial vehicles you will end up at the new falcon ute site. It has lots of specs and detail which will have you outsmarting the salesman in no time.

For example. If you buy a manual XR8 ute you get a 3.23:1 rear diff ratio. However, if you are wise you will know you can option the 3.45:1 which is always going to be the rev head's preferred option right?

G'day Metal Boy.
I'm only new on the site so be kind.
The best hard cover ute lid on the market is made by Carryboy.
The quality of there products are sensational. I have one on my XR8 and would recomend them to anyone who wants somthing thats look good as well as standing the test of time.
The Ford ute lids unfortunately rate a very poor second.

I would be buying the ute second hand, therefore most likely to buy an aftermarket hardtop rather than a factory ford one.

Are the hardtops for XR's only or can they be fitted to the styleside XLS falcon utes too etc?

And most importanly, are they waterproof/lockable etc?

G'day metal boy.
The Carryboy lids can be fitted to any styleside AU-BA ute.
They have a full aluminium frame, are lined and have a full perimeter seal.

What is your price range?
What state are you in ?
