FPV Pursuit Towbars
Well, I've got harsh words for Ford and FPV over the stuffing around they've given BA buyers for towbars. Except I'll hold back and reserve my displeasure for another time.
In the end I waited four months for nothing, and the product is less than satisfactory anyhow. Over the weekend I adopted another alternative which I'll give details of below.
I ended up being a bit wary of cutting big holes in my rear bar for the factory XR8 bar which is also a bolt on tongue type. A few quick measurements of a Hayman Reese bar netted a few better results.
Get a Hayman Reese R1934 Hitch receiver bar rated at the 2300kg capacity. This uses the hitch receiver pin type coupling and fits to the rear of the Pursuit easily. There needs to be a 2-3mm slot out of the rear bar section, and a 50x50mm square cut into the bottom bar extension. By utilising a Hayman Reese hitch of 50mm longer than standard you'll have a very discreet hole that is super neat and allows the pin and chains to be hidden under the car.
Took it past my towbar wholesaler and he asked me to turn up for work tomorrow!
I'll post pics as soon as I can.
If you're in Sydney I can do the job for you if you don't trust some of the one-hour-special fitters. Cost is around $520 which includes the cost of the factory Ford wiring (no scotch locks like the 'pros' use). Alternatively, the Hayman Reese instructions are quite clear and I'll supply measurements of the bar cutouts if you contact me.
