hi fullthrottle,<SCRIPT type=text/javascript> vbmenu_register("postmenu_604943", true);</SCRIPT> you have gone crazy about exhaust systems, to many fumes..
no mate j/k, get out to Heathcote on Saturday you will here plenty of Herrod exhaust
system's. love mine got a bit louder, but even my mate who owns a Clubby R8 loves the note.
ur right. me mates have said the same thing. :o/
you know when the car is perfect in every other way, but it doesn't make the sound that you want (or had hoped for), as a v8 owner it is pretty dissappointing. Keeping it real, I don't expect it to sound like a 351 clevo, but surely better than what I have heard so far.
the system i have now sounds good sometimes but doesnt sound as good other times. I can't figure out what causes the fluctuations in the sound.
could be air temperature...could be cold or warm engine...
its only done 3500kms...so might just wait it out until the magical 10,000kms where everything seems to fall in place lol.
I intend on getting an air intake too.....hopefully that will make things a little more consistant.
I know what you are saying fullthrottle, when I ordered mine Oct 2002 I heard the Boss engines where going to have a 3" single system and I thought this is going to sound a bit ordinary but after I saw the ad on tv with the xr8 ute idling along the road with the police cars following it I thought this sounds good for a v8 idling. When I went for a test run in a xr8 manual ute I got the salesman to fire it up and thought my old xr sounds better than this.

Get your cold air intake ASAP that makes plenty of noise when you sink your boot in....I think the lumpy noise you want to achieve from your exhaust system especially when its idling, will only come when you fit more lumpier Camshafts...
We should all bombard Ford Australia with emails and phone calls asking them where they took that ute (in the ad) to have it's exhaust done....
what do you reckon? hehehehe...
I can just imagine the answer... "It's stock". }:o)

someone posted a thing about that Ute about 4 months ago it was driven to Calder on a FPV driving lesson day by a FPV technician apparently it was the Ute they used in the commercial and guess what its a xr6na engine with the bulged bonnet..the exhaust note in that commercial could have come from anyware...
Wouldn't mind betting that they sampled the sound of a 427 big block or something. It sounded very similar on that ad to the Mustang in the modern Gone In 60 Seconds remake.
