My old man brought a brand new AU3 ute a few months ago, its 5 speed and done 4k now.
Problem is it's gutless when compared to his XG pano (which is 5 speed also) and the ute uses 19lt per 100km and the pano 11.4km on the same road under the same conditions.
Im thinking the oxygen sensor is buggered (had the problem in a AU2 Futura at work with the same problems) any other suggestions?

diagnose the computer that will tell you the problem most of the time.
Can be done with a few wires and a test light on the ECC4 and I assume it would be similar on the ECV5.

Are you serious? I remember the Joke on here about MAF being responsible for everything from excessive fuel to flat tyres!!
There are no computers where he lives and the nearest computer is about 5 hours drive and he has not plans on making the trip in the near future.

yeah like I said before I'm pretty sure all you need is a wire and a test lamp to get the error codes out of the cars ECU. That will confirm if it's the maf sensor.
Oh and last I heard MAF's could also cause bad driving, upset stomach and phycosis. ;-)

they have a 82L tank which i average about 500-600klms per tank..
its now done 15,000klms and still feels very good.
the best fuel consumption i have got out of it was 1000k's still had a little more juice left in her too!! on the way to queensland in january.
anyways hopefully you get your problem sorted out..
