Is it illegal to NOT have a tray?

Just wondering what are the legal requirements for the tray on a ute, particularly in NSW.

Do you HAVE TO have some sort of styleside box, tray or flatbed tabletop?

I think utes look sick with a flat wooden/metal tabletop and even better without a tray hehe (but then you can't carry anything obviously!)

Anyone know?

I think it would be illegal not to have some sort of cover over the rear wheels....

Yes it's illegal, been busted before. You could always claim your on your way to get a custom tray put on though.

Probly having no tray would be ok if ya had mudguards, tail lights an number plate all mounted in the correct manner on ya vehicle.
