Question My sister wants to buy a ute

Hello all,
My little sister is looking to buy a ute and has asked me for advice.

The thing is I don't know much about cars at all.

shes got a $27000 budget and is looking at 1998 or later with bullbar, roll bar thingy and anything else that makes it look tough.

What I would like to know is where I can find information on all the different models.

I've been doing a bit of looking on autotrader.com.au and know the general asking price but don't really understand what the different models are eg: XH,AU XHII

anyone know where I can find a list of ford falcon models?
I mean can you have a 1999XH and a 1999AU or does the year determine the model??

thankyou
gavin

Thumbs up

$27k is the upper limit, at the moment she's looking at 1999au with 80,000kms for $19990 and looking at bbar and stuff.

XLS? dunno what that means but it's something to look up.

Ok

In the AU range there were the following Variants

XL Styleside Stocko Jocko with AC and remote locking
XL Tray
XLS Styleside Alloy Wheels, Cruise Control and Upgraded Interior.
XLS Tray
XR6 HP - In the early Days of AU Better Wheels, Cruise, ABS, CD, Better interior. Quad front head lamps. More Power
XR6 VCT
XR8

That is just a very basic rundown.

confused

Thanks everyone, I am still finding it a bit confusing looking on autotrader when I see a 1998 series III then a 2001 AU2.

Is there some ford model timeline I can view so I know what to ask the dealer when I call him.

I really am the wrong person to be doing this. I don't want to stuff this up.

thanks
gavin

AUI - September 1998 to March/April 2000
AUII - March/April 2000 to October/November 2001
AUII - October/November 2001 to September 2002

That's a rough idea.
