premium sound in a ute??

i really want premium sound (just for the color screen) but u cant get it in a ute... what do u reckon are the chances of ford putting the prem sound head unit in without the etra amp and subbie?

also is there any differance between the headunit in the stock sound and the head unit in the prestige sound? (other then the 6 stacker of course)

Re: premium sound in a ute??

Yeah i wanted the colour screen to but got shafted, and i didnt think the prestige sound was worth the extra $600, all you get is a 6 stacker and a set of tweeters i think. The standard system sounds pretty good anyway.

Re: premium sound in a ute??

I read in one of the threads before that someone has done this to a ute, and it costs big $$$, alot of things have to be changed.

Just a quick question Mark, Did you just split the speaker wires to run the amp and then run all the spekers off that???

Re: premium sound in a ute??

no they used line in speaker RCA inputs high quality ones to keep the radio noise through the speakers very low, dont use the ones on the AMP, it did work well some say they have lots of niose through the speakers after doing this...it was done by DB FEVER Brunswick here in Melbourne..i must find the thread on it..

Re: premium sound in a ute??

Well, I was told the ICC options on BA2 utes will not change so I'd be pissed if they did now.

As for retrofit the entire cabin wiring loom requires changing (lots of work) and with all the additional bits and pieces the parts will cost around $4500 depending on who you know. That will give you just the colour screen and premium sound front end with SatNav. Then you have to add speakers or whatever other changes.
