How many of you out there have ordered a hard tonnneau cover for your XR ute as a factory option & had the ute delivered to you with the bloody tarp hooks still on the back section??? I thought that if you selected this as an option at the time of ordering that the ute would come with the plugs gone (like the Pursuit) but I know of at least one person who had her XR8 arrive to her with the hooks still there.
They all arrive like that - there are little caps that can be painted to fill the holes but it's a single pressing so they are going to have the holes regardless.
Yeah mine came with the black rope hooks... you need to ask your dealer for the smooth caps.. but once you go to caps you can't really switch back to a vinyl tonneu even if you need/want to.

BA Pursuit has plugs also..
The only way to be free from plugs and hooks is take it to a panel beater, they will remove the tub liner weld all the holes then re-paint the whole rear of your ute, i know of a panel beater who done this for a Ford employee last year...It costs a few bucks..
i wished that the hardcover had some sort of handle! they are a bit hard on the fingertips especially in winter!!

Enquired about this a few days ago, its a prick of a job hence the $$$ needed to do it, hopefully in future series they'll sort something out.
From about March 2004 production any utes ordered with a FACTORY hard cover have had the side panels pressed without the holes at all. That was my advice.
I'll know for sure shortly.
