Traction Control

Does anyone know if you can get traction control on the MKII XR8 utes as it was not avaliable on the MKI,s. Something to do with rear leaf springs?

Re: Traction Control

Traction control is for sissys, leaf springs + 260 or 290kw V8 + wet road =FUN FUN FUN.lol
Traction control isn't fitted due to the leaf spring set up apparantly, cant see it changing in the Mk2

Re: Traction Control

I didnt think it had anything to do with the leaf springs, Ford claims that ute buyers with 300-400hp dont want the car to be held back by traction control. Holden must agree, as neither the SS or Maloo comes with it either apparently

My friend just traded in his SS ute (it had traction control) and got a Maloo and it has it to! And I would only have it if you could turn it off as you would know why.

Re: Traction Control

The reason is that the space for the extra wiring and hydrolics for the 4 channel abs/traction control setup thats available on the sedan, is not available on the utes. Therefore they get the regular non traction control brakes.

45,000km service coming up - and i'll be asking for a sizable list of fixes:
* Gearbox (3rd time)
* Steering click (5th time)
* Brake Shudder (2nd time, and has the applied "Fix")
* etc...

Re: Traction Control

That doesn't make sense to me Ian, why wouldn't there be space on utes? The engine bay is the same, underneath is virtually the same to the back of the cab and behind that there is plenty of space. Can you elaborate?
