Ute diffs??

I'm looking at a diff out of a 1990 Falcon ute (to put in my 351 XD), its a LSD, 2.92. Where these diffs 2 spider, 4 spider or any different to an EA sedan diff? ......apart from the leaf springs

I'm sick of changing 6 cyl open wheerlers and having them get the groans after a year of driving

Re: Ute diffs??

I thought all commercial diffs had 4 pinion's , but looking at the factory XF ute service manual , it seems you can get both 2 and 4 pinion diffs in either normal or LSD.

Re: Ute diffs??

That's cool, sounds promising then. I'm keen to give one of these 4 pinners a go. The car just aint pwerful enough to go an 8 inch or 9 inch, which in New Zealand is big bucks.

Cheers for that Speedzter

Re: Ute diffs??

Just as a matter of interest , I ran the standard open wheel diff in my XD
ute powered by a 400 (long strike clevo) for quite a while before I put
a 9 inch in , and it stood up quite well !.
Are you running an auto ?

Re: Ute diffs??

Yeah, C4 auto. I don't really know why I seem to make my diffs noisey. But they get like that. after about a year. I want to get an lsd for a number of driving events I do and may as well get one a bit stronger than the 2 pin open wheeler.
