I have had mostly V8's over the years. Although the last 3 (fairmont ghia el, au1 xls v8, xr8 au2) to me have been fairly dissapointing power wise compared to the 260 boss but nothing stacked up to my old XC GS 351 4speed ute ( couple of mods) for sheer power and grunt. May be I was a lot younger and things seem to go quicker who knows!
I felt the turbo had stacks of power and was fun to drive when pushed, however i felt that it suffered in comparison to the v8 in the day to day grind.
Why?
Simply sound, with the turbo u get stuff all exhaust pleasure until u nail it, with the v8 (+ perf exhaust) u have the awesome v8 burble all the time.
I thought if I got the turbo I would be driving flatout everywhere to get my fix!
Any self respecting ute driving aussie male knows you gotta have THAT sound or go home.

Try doing circle work in a TQE ute and not get booed. The 8 every time! No exceptions.
