Ute: XR6T or XR8

If you have the option between the XR6T Ute or the XR8 Ute, what would you choose and why?

Re: Ute: XR6T or XR8

I have had mostly V8's over the years. Although the last 3 (fairmont ghia el, au1 xls v8, xr8 au2) to me have been fairly dissapointing power wise compared to the 260 boss but nothing stacked up to my old XC GS 351 4speed ute ( couple of mods) for sheer power and grunt. May be I was a lot younger and things seem to go quicker who knows!

I drove both and took the v8.

I felt the turbo had stacks of power and was fun to drive when pushed, however i felt that it suffered in comparison to the v8 in the day to day grind.

Why?

Simply sound, with the turbo u get stuff all exhaust pleasure until u nail it, with the v8 (+ perf exhaust) u have the awesome v8 burble all the time.

I thought if I got the turbo I would be driving flatout everywhere to get my fix!

cheers
Red

Re: Ute: XR6T or XR8

This was mentioned in another thread:

Price difference between Turbo and XR8 Ute is about $1200...

Price difference between Turbo and XR8 Sedan is about $$6000...

(Please don't quote me on the actual differences,... this is only an estimate)

In any case, the XR8 Ute seems to be a bargain...

Re: Ute: XR6T or XR8

Personally I'd go with the 8! That said, I've never driven a BA :(

Re: Ute: XR6T or XR8

Try doing circle work in a TQE ute and not get booed. The 8 every time! No exceptions.
