hey i'm looking at buying a XF ute.. it has no rego and abit of rust in it, bot sure how long its been out of rego for.. i was wondering if it hasn't been out long will it still have to go over the pits etc (how much does that cost) and what engines did they come with.. haven't had the chance to give him a call yet....

anyway thanks just need some info before i commit

The XF Falcons came standard with 4.1L and 3.3L engines (6 cylinder)
If you look at the engine code on the Vehicle identification plate you will find a spot that says engine, it will have.

post 1986
M for 3.3L carb
G for 4.1L carb
Y for 4.1L EFI

After 1986 the codes are
B for 3.3L Carb
E for 4.1L carb
T for 4.1L EFI

In nsw you have 3 months between the end of registration, and the point where a blueslip is required before the car can be re registered from memory

Well it will need a pink slip and if its out of rego, they seller wouldnt bother with one, so you may end up with alot of work to do anyway just to barely get on the road.

But thats why we buy old cars, to keep us from getting bored :0)
